 Comprehensive dental implantology course:
"Basic to advanced"
It is an academic implantology course designed and conducted by leaders in implant dentistry, international speakers and developer of many surgical techniques, and is the 20th  course conducted by  AOIA and the second in UAE that is consistent with Sharjah University requirements so as to give the knowledge and practical skill in implant dentistry utilizing the unique “problem-based learning” techniques which allows the candidates to interact, understand and appreciate implantology as well as focusing especially on solving the  practical day to day problems seen in implant dentistry.
It is part of the dental faculty’s plan in Sharjah University’s to create the most important academic implant centre in the UAE.
It is targeting both established implantologists as well as GP dentists.
Topics covered:

  • Literature review regarding implant placement protocols and decision making.
  • Flap design and suturing techniques
  • Immediate loading: cons and pros.
  • Basics of implant esthetics
  • Biomechanics
  • Immediate implant technique: soft and hard tissue management.
  • Briefs about updates (PRP, zirconium implants, stem cell technology)
  • Sinus lifting utilizing piezosurgery
  • Flapless surgery-when
  • Management of complications.

 

Conduct of the course:
The course is entirely conducted at the university of Sharjah In the form of three modules: comprised of lectures, hands on workshops and live surgery performance (each candidate should normally place at least 1 implant and load their prosthesis). A text book will be dedicated to every candidate at the beginning of the course as well as some hand out of the taught curriculum to enable them to interpret and understand and review all the necessary information. And finally candidates will be subjected to an examination at the end of the course.
Benefits of the course: it is a non-commercial non system- oriented course:
I. Professionally: by completion of the course all candidates will be able to:

  • Properly diagnose, correctly plan and take the wise decision in terms of choice of implant type, surgical technique, and prosthetic option.
  • Place implants in a) normal ridges, b) deficient ridge (with bone augmentation and membrane placement), and/or c) fresh extraction sockets.
  • Understand and know about internal and external sinus grafting technique

II. Accreditation and other benefits:

    • Obtain a certificate of completing the course which is
  • Issued and stamped by the  AOIA
  • AOIA certificates are recognized and accredited by

 International congress of oral implantologists (ICOI)

  • (60) credit hours recognized by the MOH and by the Health authority of AbuDhabi.
